Martin Brodeur moved into a hockey operations position with the Devils when Tom Fitzgerald replaced Ray Shero as the General Manager on January 12. He is currently the Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and Senior Advisor for the Devils.

Brodeur spoke with The Hockey News on Friday and told them he has no interest in being considered as a General Manager candidate.

“I know what it takes to be a GM,” Brodeur told The Hockey News. “I've been around Doug Armstrong for a long time and Lou Lamoriello. I'm just not ready for the commitment, regardless of whether it would be offered to me.”

Brodeur is currently living in St. Louis and does not feel ready to commit to moving to New Jersey and take on a new position.

“The reason why I went back to New Jersey is because I was able to control my time -- because I'm not moving from St. Louis yet, and I have a 10-year-old son at home who does all the activities in the world,” Brodeur said. “I'm not saying that one day, I won't say, ‘You know what? This is the time for me to do it, maybe.' But right now, I value my time off too much to get myself involved.”

On June 11, Tom Fitzgerald announced that he intends to remain the General Manager and is interviewing coaching candidates.
