Former Sabre Matthew Barnaby rips team's current ownership
Former Buffalo Sabre Matthew Barnaby was not shy on the job he feels the Buffalo Sabres management and ownership is doing with the team currently. Speaking on his podcast, “Unfiltered,” he referred the organization as a “tire fire” after the team fired 22 staff members this week.
In the beginning of the podcast, Barnaby spent 17 minutes ripping on Sabres owners Terry and Kim Pegula, as well as the brand-new general manager Kevyn Adams.
“I don't think that anyone could be in the running for the most awfully ran organization in the National Hockey League. I thought this was fairly simple, the Ottawa Senators, right? Eugene Melnyk is the worst owner in the league. But he's being given a run for his money in Buffalo, a place that is very near and dear to my heart.
“Having played in Buffalo for seven years and been part of the organization for nine years, I know the fan base. And (expletive), do I feel bad for this fan base. It's a blue-collar town that loves their Bills and Sabres. Let's face it, there's not much going on in Buffalo beyond the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres.”
Barnaby went on to say plenty more, which can all be viewed in the attached article below. As he mentioned, he spent seven seasons with the Sabres, in which he became known as the league's biggest agitator. He went on to play 834 career NHL games between the Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Dallas Stars.
