Following several reports that forward Max Pacioretty might be on his way out of Las Vegas to alleviate the club's cap issues, Golden Knights owner Bill Foley has made it clear on Thursday that Pacioretty has not been shopped as the reports had suggested.

“We're not shopping Patches," Foley said during an interview with KLAS TV in Las Vegas. "We do have cap issues, and so some of those things have to be resolved as we go forward, we started getting into the season. But he definitely is not being shopped."

This wouldn't be the first time an owner, or a General Manager has come out and publicly stated that a player isn't being shopped, only to have that player traded shortly thereafter, but Foley did seem fairly convincing - and he does have other options available to him when it comes to moving some salary out.

As it stands, after signing UFA defenseman Alex Pietrangelo to a 7-year, $61.6M contract and shipping out another blueliner in the form of Nate Schmidt ($5.95M AAV), the Golden Knights sit a little under $1M over the cap for the upcoming season with just a 21-man roster.
