Bruins' David Pastrnak has been placed in quarantine

The mystery surrounding David Pastrnak's absence from the Boston Bruins training camp has been solved. Pastrnak practiced with teammates for the first time on Wednesday after returning from the Czech Republic. He was noticeably absent again on Thursday and all the Bruins and the NHL would say is that he's "unfit for play" as per the league's new rules. However, his agent confirms to The Athletic that Pastrnak has been placed back in quarantine.

According to J.P. Barry, Pastrnak is being isolated after coming in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The good news is that Pastrnak himself has tested negative. The length of time that he has to spend in quarantine and away from teammates is unknown at this point.

The Bruins' Ondrej Kase has also been absent from practice and why still remains a mystery.

"Am I thinking ahead to being without those guys in the round robin or playoffs? No. That'd be speculating,” Cassidy said on Thursday of Pastrnak and Kase. “But yeah, for today. And if I get word later today that the same thing's going to happen tomorrow, then we start thinking, ‘OK, we've looked at a couple guys. Anything else?' We'll meet as a staff to go through that. But there's only so many guys that will go up to David's spot.”

Anders Bjork skated in Pastrnak's spot on the first line next to Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron on Friday. Kase, projected to be on the second line with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci, was replaced by Karson Kuhlman.
