Speaking with media on Friday, Edmonton Oilers defenceman Caleb Jones says he tested positive for COVID-19, although the exact timing of the test is not known.

Jones, 23, said he was asymptomatic and remained isolated for two weeks. He is now better and has been practicing with his teammates, and is ready to go for the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs. Though he started the year in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors, he put up 11 points in just 14 games and was recalled to Edmonton for the remainder of the season. In 43 games with the Oilers this season, he put up four goals and nine points.

Jones has been a part of the Oilers organization since he was selected in the fourth round (117th overall) at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He and his teammates will participate in the play-in round set to begin in early August, where they will take on the Chicago Blackhawks in a five-game series.
