Sunday evening, the Montreal Canadiens announced on Twitter that Alexander Romanov will be joining their roster for Phase 3 of the Return to Play Plan.

Romanov has played in the KHL for the past two seasons, totalling 11 points in 86 games. Romanov is currently in Russia, where he will need to finish a mandatory quarantine before being eligible to participate in the team's training camp. Romanov will not be eligible to participate in Phase 4, which the Canadiens will start with a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Eric Engels, Sportsnet reporter, announced on Monday that Romanov informed the Canadiens of his intention to sign a three-year, entry-level contract.
