"I remember it pretty well, actually,” Little said. “It was one of those normal games, and it changed in the blink of an eye. I was skating behind the net, and felt the puck hit me right in the ear. And I knew right away that it wasn't good… when I first tried to get up I just felt really off-balance and saw the blood right away, so I knew something bad had happened.”
Unfortunately for Little, the puck hit him right in his helmet's earhole, meaning his lid provided no protection from the shot whatsoever.
My parents are in Ontario and they're watching it on TV and they really don't have any idea of what's going on,” he said. “My wife, she wasn't even at the game, so she had no idea what was going on. So it was up to the trainers to call them and let them know… that was the toughest part, is that I wasn't even able to see them or talk to them until later that night.”
Little underwent surgery in March to repair his ear and said he's feeling "pretty good." The injury initially required 30 stitches to the side of his head. The Jets had previously announced his season was over and its highly unlikely he'll join the team for the playoffs this season at any point. The 32-year-old played just seven games in 2019-20, putting up two goals and five points.
