We still don't know what Seattle's NHL team will be called. We do now know, however, what the team's arena will be called. Billionaire Jeff Bezos (estimated to be worth $165 billion, by the way) has announced on Instagram that he has purchased the naming rights to the former Key Arena. However, the founder, CEO and president of Amazon will not be naming the arena after his flagship company.

"I'm excited to announce that Amazon has bought the naming rights to the historic Seattle arena previously known as KeyArena," Bezos said on Instagram. "Instead of calling it Amazon Arena, we're naming it Climate Pledge Arena as a regular reminder of the urgent need for climate action. It will be the first net zero carbon certified arena in the world, generate zero waste from operations and events, and use reclaimed rainwater in the ice system to create the greenest ice in the NHL."

Bezos' announcement was met with a mostly positive reaction on his Instagram post. This is certainly an interesting development, as most companies and corporations purchase arena naming rights to promote their business. At the same time, there are many well-known and successful corporations that don't have nearly as much money as Bezos has personally. When you're already worth $165 billion, your company doesn't need much more promotion.

As for the name of the Seattle team, while many have speculated it will be Kraken or the Sockeyes, an official announcement isn't expected for several months.

The Seattle ownership group has confirmed that Bezos has indeed purchased the naming rights and will be calling it Climate Pledge Arena.
