The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defencemen Seth Jones and Dean Kukan off the injured reserve, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Thursday.

Jones missed the final 14 games of the season due to an ankle injury he suffered in a game against the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 11. The highly talented 25-year-old had 30 points in 56 games this season prior to the injury. He also ranked seventh in the entire league for average time on ice per game with 25:17.

Kukan missed the team's last 29 games of the season after a knee injury sustained against the Boston Bruins on Jan. 2. In 33 games on the year, the 26-year-old has recorded one goal and four assists. Though he does not play nearly as big of a role as Jones, he is still a valuable depth defenceman which is something all teams need in the playoffs.

With the NHL announcing recently that they are returning to play later this summer, it is a huge boost for the Blue Jackets organization and fans that they will have these two players back in action. Considering how well head coach John Tortorella was able to keep them playing despite facing injuries all season long, they could be a very scary team to have to face in the post season.
