Big news came from the KHL Friday morning, as it has been announced that legendary forward Pavel Datsyuk will return for another season after signing a one-year contract extension with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

The soon to be 42-year-old played in his first season with Avtomobilist in 2019-20, posting five goals and 22 points in 43 games. Prior to joining them, he had played in three straight seasons with St. Petersburg, where he put up a combined 111 points in 135 games. Datsyuk left the NHL after the 2015-16 season, which marked the end of a 14-season career, all of which came as a member of the Detroit Red Wings. In total, he played 953 NHL regular season games, scoring 314 goals and adding 604 assists. He also played in an additional 157 playoff games, putting up 113 points.

Datsyuk is considered by many to be the most skilled NHL player of all time, and one of the better all-time two-way forwards. He was able to win four Lady Byng Awards, as well as three Selke Trophies during his time in the NHL. By the time he is all said and done with his career, he will without a doubt be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
