This certainly causes concern for the NHL and its players, as the league has said they expect training camps to begin on July 13. With these additional nine cases, there have now been 35 total cases since June 8. It will be interesting to see what the league does, but it is hard to imagine they will be able to play games by the beginning of August with this many players catching the virus.
If the league does continue to go on as originally planned, playoff games are expected to begin in about a month's time. The games will take place in Toronto and Edmonton, as they were both recently picked as the league's hub cities. While the playoffs take place, the players are expected to follow all restrictions placed by the league, which involves keeping them all quarantined for the duration of the postseason.
