Possible lines for Team Canada if the NHL participates in 2022 Olympics
The NHL and the NHLPA are still involved in discussions, which have intensified over the past week as both sides are working diligently to reach a tentative agreement for a new CBA, which would include the NHL's participation in the Olympics moving forward, pending negotiations with the IIHF and the IOC.
It goes without saying that it would be a breath of fresh air to have best-on-best hockey return at the Olympics, potentially beginning in 2022, but what might a Team Canada look like at that time? Well, according to Sportsnet, it could look something like this.
Of course, this list is completely subjective. There are a multitude of Canadian players who you could definitely make an argument for, with regard to inclusion on the Olympic team in 2022, but for all intents and purposes, this list looks like it may be pretty close to what we might see in terms of on-ice personnel.
Some notable omissions are Marc-Andre Fleury, who will be 37 and well past his prime in 2022, Brent Burns, Shea Weber, Taylor Hall, Logan Couture and Jonathan Toews.
