According to CapFriendly, the Anaheim Ducks have signed Rocco Grimaldi to a professional try-out contract and he'll be on the ice with them for training camp in the coming days.
Grimaldi, a native of Anaheim, spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals after being a regular on Nashville's roster from 2018-2021.
The 29-year-old had a solid season in Milwaukee, recording 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a plus-14. He went on to add two points in six Calder Cup Playoff games.
There's a good chance that, if he has a strong showing during pre-season games, that Grimaldi could earn a contract and make Anaheim's roster. He's a smaller player at only 5'6", but he won't be pushed around and has an edge to his game. If he ends up making the Ducks' roster out of camp, he'll likely be looking at a fourth line role for the 2022-23 season, as well as some time in the AHL with the San Diego Gulls.
