Per Sportsnet's Eric Francis, Flames Head Coach Bill Peters has drafted up a written statement addressed to GM Brad Treliving, wherein Peters takes full responsibility for his actions as alleged and expresses his understanding and appreciation for the job that the organization has done in reviewing the situation in its investigation.
This is a huge development, as Peters had not publicly commented on the matter.
There was not much room for plausible deniability, as the allegations of physical abuse and use of racially charged language had already been corroborated by several players and other personnel in both Rockford and Carolina.
Details in Peters' statement to Treliving may not completely line up with the victim or witnesses account, as the accuser claims that no apology was offered. Please read more here
Peters has returned to Calgary, missing Wednesday's tilt in Buffalo. The organization is expected to speak on the matter and reveal its determination on Peters' fate as soon as tomorrow.
The Flames do not play against until Saturday evening when they play host to the Ottawa Senators. It would be surprising if the club does not have a new coach behind the bench for that match-up.
