The Florida Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks have traded minor league prospects. The Blackhawks have acquired defenseman Ian McCoshen from the Panthers in exchange for forward Aleksi Saarela.
Saarela, 22, was a third round pick of the New York Rangers in 2015. He had an excellent season in the minors last year, scoring 30 goals and notching 54 points in 69 games. He's had a bit of a slow start this season, with just one assist in five games.
24-year-old McCoshen played 19 games with Florida last season, managing one goals and one assist. He spent the rest of the year with Springfield of the AHL, getting nine assists in 38 games. He was drafted 31st overall by the Panthers in 2013.
