The Charlotte Checkers, the AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, have signed foward Jamie McGinn to a professional tryout (PTO). McGinn, 31, has 11 pro seasons under his belt, the majority of which he spent in the NHL.

29-year-old defenseman Luca Sbisa has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Anaheim Ducks. He was immediately placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the AHL.

Gabriel Vilardi is back to skating in LA in a non-contact jersey. Vilardi, 20, hasn't played this season and only got into four AHL contests in 2018-19 because of a back injury. He was drafted 11th overall by the Kings in 2017.

The Detroit Red Wings recalled RW Evgeny Svechnikov from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned D Alex Biega to the Griffins. The team has also placed LW Adam Erne on injured reserveand removed D Jonathan Ericsson from injured reserve and placed him on waivers. Ericsson is in the last year of his contract and carries a $4.25 million cap hit.

After a few days of day-to-day limbo, Boston has placed C David Krejci on IR and called up Anders Bjork from the AHL. A former 5th round pick from the 2014 draft, Bjork has seen 50 games worth of action with the Bruins over the last two years, compiling 5 goals and 10 assists.
