Former Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen will be finding himself a new home in Russia. It has been reported that the 25-year-old will be signing a contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL.

It had been reported earlier that SKA was in talks with Virtanen, but talks appeared to have fallen through.

Last season, Virtanen was accused of sexual harassment, which caused him to be released by the Vancouver Canucks. The incident allegedly took place in September of 2017, and during the investigation, he was suspended from all team activities.

The New Westminster native was originally picked 6th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Over the course of last season, he scored just 5 goals in 38 contests.

It seems very unlikely that Virtanen will ever make a return to the NHL again, unless he can find a way to clear his name. Along with this, he must find his play style that caused him to be picked in the top ten of a draft.
