Team USA's coaching staff to feature two-time Olympic goaltender
Following the announcement of the NHL's participation in the 2022 Winter Olympics, USA Hockey rounded out its coaching staff, which will include a familiar name as an assistant.
According to Jon Morosi of NHL Network, two-time Olympian Ryan Miller will be behind Team USA's bench as an assistant coach in Beijing. This will mark Miller's first coaching gig since he announced his retirement from the NHL near the end of the 2020-21 season.
As mentioned, the East Lansing, Michigan native played for Team USA in two Olympic games, 2010 and 2014. In 2010, he had a record of 5-1-0 with a 1.35 G.A.A., a .946 save percentage, and one shutout in six games as Team USA finished second, taking home Silver. For his efforts, Miller was named the tournament's best goaltender and MVP. He also played in one game at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia where he picked up a win against Slovenia.
The United States will play against Canada, Germany, and China at the 2022 Winter Games, which will get underway in February.
