The Toronto Maple Leafs are simply not living up to expectations, especially when it comes to their last four games. Not only has the team lost four straight, but it has blown leads in all four of those games, including three in the third period. It's not a good look for a supposed contender, and it seems head coach Sheldon Keefe isn't sure which players he can trust.
Keefe Makes Stunning Admission during Leafs Team Meeting.
In front of reporters during a team meeting today, Keefe stressed that halfway through the season and he still isn't sure which players he can rely on in important situations.
"Who are we going to rely on in those moments? Who's going to go out and get the job done?"
"Forty-two games in, I still have a lot of questions, quite honestly, about who is going to go out and you can say for certain is going to get the job done for us."
It's an especially surprising statement from a coach with one of the most expensive cores in the NHL. Keefe seems to feel the Maple Leafs simply aren't competing hard enough.

"Put the dagger in the opposition when you have a chance."
Sheldon Keefe Tells Players He's Not Sure Which of Them is Reliable
The response to Keefe's comments online is certainly interesting. There is a large contingent of Toronto Maple Leafs fans who seem to be very much over Keefe, and believe he no longer has anything to offer the team.
"I feel the same way about the Leafs coaching staff."
"#LeafsForever team: «After 42 games, we still have questions about Sheldon Keefe's coaching."
With time ticking, Brad Treliving has an interesting decision to make before it's too late: keep Keefe and hope to at least limp into the playoffs, or fire him now and get someone to light a fire under the team.
