It seems the NHL is being extra cautious as it prepares to return to finish the 2019-20 season. On Saturday, several players were held out of the Boston Bruins practice, with coach Bruce Cassidy stating they were "unfit to participate" and nothing else. One of the players who didn't practice was Charlie Coyle. We now know what the issue is.

According to Coyle's agent, Bob Norton, Coyle was held out after an inconclusive test for COVID-19. In other words, his test results came back neither positive or negative. Norton said Coyle has since tested negative and is fine. He participated in an off-ice workout Saturday, rather than on-ice with his teammates.

Coyle was one of nine Bruins players who were deemed "unfit to participate" on Saturday. Team star David Pastrnak is in quarantine after coming in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. He has since tested negative himself. Nick Ritchie, Sean Kuraly, Ondrej Kase, David Krejci, Chris Wagner, Torey Krug and Tuukka Rask were the other players who were not cleared for Saturday's practice. The reasons for their absence are not known, although Rask has been sporting a finger splint this week after taking a hard shot to the glove hand during practice.

The Bruins are off on Sunday. They are scheduled to begin the second week of camp on Monday at Warrior Ice Arena. Teams are slated to leave for their hub cities on July 26th.
