The Vancouver Canucks have agreed to terms with college defenceman Jack Rathbone on a three-year, entry-level contract, general manager Jim Benning announced Tuesday.

“Jack is a dynamic player,” said Benning. “He has the ability to transition the puck from the defensive zone, brings good offensive instincts and plays with an edge to his game. We are pleased to have Jack join our roster.”

Rathbone, 21, has spent the last two seasons playing for Harvard University. In 28 games this season, the Roxbury, Massachusetts native had seven goals and 24 assists. This was an improvement from his freshman season, in which he had 22 points in 33 games.

Rathbone has been a part of the Canucks organization since the team drafted him in the fourth round (95th overall) at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He will make the transition to professional hockey at the beginning of the 2020-21 season.
