Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenceman Mark Friedman on a two-year, one-way contract. The contract will carry an average annual value of $725,000.

Friedman, 24, spent most of the 2019-20 season in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 45 games with the team, he put up three goals and 15 helpers. He also appeared in six NHL games, which is the longest stint of his career, and had one assist. He made his NHL debut the season prior, appearing in just one game. That season also saw him set career highs in the AHL with five goals and 26 points.

Friedman has been a part of the Flyers organization since he was drafted in the third round (86th overall) at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The Toronto, Ontario native was playing in the USHL for the Waterloo Black Hawks at the time. After that, he went on to play three seasons for Bowling Green State University before beginning his professional career during the 2017-18 season.
