On Friday, the Buffalo Sabres announced that forward Kyle Okposo underwent surgery on his right knee. It was successful and he is expected to make a full recovery within six weeks.

The Sabres were not among the 24 teams that qualified for the NHL's Return to Play format for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It is unclear when the Sabres will be able to return to play, giving Okposo ample time for recovery.

Okposo missed 16 games during the 2019-20 regular season due to injuries. In addition to his knee injury, he suffered upper-body injuries and a concussion. He finished his fourth season with the Sabres with nine goals and 10 assists in 52 games played.
