Yesterday, Anthony SanFilippo reported that center Sean Couturier will miss 'months' at least, possibly the entire season due to a herniated disc in his back. Couturier's absence alone makes Philadelphia one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
The Flyers missed defenseman Ryan Ellis terribly last season, and they will not be getting him back any time soon. Ellis has played only four games for the Flyers before succumbing to his apparent hip injury. According to Frank Seravalli, there is no timetable for his return, and he will stay on long-term injured reserve for the foreseeable future.
Chuck Fletcher's supposed 'aggressive retooling' is not going well, and expectations for the team are lower each day, regardless who is behind the bench. The team currently has a losing culture, little high-end talent, and virtually no hope of being competitive this season.
Praying for people's downfalls is in poor taste and not what we do here. But Chuck Fletcher's days as an NHL GM are numbered. The Minnesota Wild had a poor run under him, and now the Flyers are a lifeless shell of the team that finished second in the Metro Division in '19-20.
Flyers' fans might boycott Comcast too, bullying them into selling the team. They do not mess around. Still, brutal time for Flyers fans.
