Ennis, 32, became an unrestricted free agent in July and the offers must not have been coming in to keep him in the NHL. While his game and point production has slowed down a bit in recent years, it's still a little shocking that no one has signed him to a PTO.
The Edmonton native was drafted in the first round in 2008 by the Buffalo Sabres. He made his NHL debut with Buffalo during the 2009-10 season and went on to play parts of eight seasons with the Sabres. Following his time in Buffalo, Ennis played for Minnesota, Toronto, Ottawa (two separate stints), and Edmonton.
In 700 career games in the NHL, Ennis recorded 346 points (144 goals, 202 assists), 224 penalty minutes and was a minus-84. He added twelve points during 24 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Ennis now joins a Salavat Yulaev Ufa that sits seventh in the KHL's Western Conference with two wins, one overtime loss and three regulation losses through six games.
