Dallas Stars sign General Manager Jim Nill to contract extension
The Dallas Stars announced on Tuesday that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension with long-time General Manager Jim Nill, that will see him in his current role until the end of the 2023-24 season.
"Jim has done tremendous work in his nine years since joining the Stars, having developed a culture of excellence within our organization that has translated to success on the ice," said Stars owner Tom Gaglardi.
He added, "He's re-shaped our club to put us in a position to compete with the League's best each and every season. Jim's diligence and commitment to the Stars has reverberated throughout our entire organization and we're excited for him to continue his work building a championship-caliber team."

Nill, 64, was set to be out of contract at the end of the current season. In April 2013, he was named General Manager of the Stars after spending roughly two decades as a scout with the Ottawa Senators and then in a management role with the Detroit Red Wings.
"I want to thank Tom Gaglardi for his commitment to building a winning organization and for allowing Bekki and myself to call Texas home over the past ten years," said Nill. "While we have made some big strides toward our ultimate goal, I am eager to continue my work in developing a winning culture that ultimately brings this team and this city a championship."
In his tenure as General Manager in Dallas, Nill has helped orchestrate five playoff teams, including in 2020 when the Stars reached their third Stanley Cup Final in franchise history.
