Hockey player sentenced after assaulting teammate during practice; ready to get back to playing
After being booted from a team in a Norwegian hockey league for hitting a teammate in the head with his stick during practice, Rasmus Ahlholm has now been sentenced by a court for assault. The incident occurred last December and Ahlholm was kicked off of Storhamar of GET-ligaen the very next day. Here's video of what happened.
The teammate involved was Jacob Lundell Noer. There had apparently been some bad blood between the two leading up to this incident.
According to AftonBladet, Ahlholm was sentenced last week by a Norwegian court to a fine of just over $1200 USD, and has to pay court costs of $500.
"It was fortunate that things weren't much worse," the court wrote in its ruling.
After avoiding jail time, Ahlholm has already signed with Vålerenga of GET-ligaen, which just happens to be Storhamar's arch rival.
"I accept the punishment I have received and put it behind me," said Ahlholm. "Of course I regret what I have done. It was tough at first, but I'm looking forward."
Lundell Noer is playing for Storhamar again this season.
