The New York Islanders announced on Wednesday that they've agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with one of their top prospects, Calle Odelius.

In addition to signing the 18-year-old, the Islanders have loaned Odelius to Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League.

The Nykvarn (Sweden) native was described as one of the best skaters in the 2022 NHL draft class and had the potential to be a late-first round pick, but ulitmately fell to the Islanders in the second round, where they selected him 65th overall.

Odelius appeared in seven games with Djurgardens IF last season, recording no points or penalty minutes and was a minus-one. The 5'11" defenceman spent the majority of the season with Djurgardens IF's junior team where he put up 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a plus-three in 43 games.
