One day after the Columbus Blue Jackets announced that Alexandre Texier would not be joining them for the 2022-23 season for personal reasons, the 22-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the ZSC Lions in Switzerland.

"Alexandre is a young, talented and fast striker. Rikard Grönborg can use him as a center or as a wing and both in the power play and in the box play." said ZSC Lions sports director Sven Leuenberger.

The news of Texier not joining Columbus comes at the advice of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program, with the Grenoble (France) native saying he has had some personal issues and wants to be closer to his family for now.

"During the past year, I have experienced some personal issues and challenges and I feel I need to be close to my family at this time. I have love and respect for the city of Columbus, the Blue Jackets, and the fans as everyone has always treated me first-class. I truly appreciate the support, help and empathy I have received from team management, the coaching staff, doctors, trainers and my teammates. This was a hard decision, but it is the best one for me right now." Texier said on Wednesday.

Since being drafted by Columbus in the second round in 2017, Texier has appeared in 123 games across parts of four seasons, where he's tallied 49 points (22 G, 27 A).
