Carolina Hurricanes: ranking the top-ten prospects in their system

With rookie tournaments around the National Hockey League getting underway in less than four weeks, it's time to take a look at the top-ten prospects on each of the 32 teams.

Multiple different sources use different criteria for their rankings as to what players classify as a prospect. For my lists over the next couple of weeks, I will be using Corey Pronman's guide from 2019, as that's the most updated I could find. For Pronman's guide, he uses the following two requirements:

- A player is considered a prospect if: he has played less than 25 games in one campaign.

- Less than 50 games total in their career.

Next team up is the Carolina Hurricanes. Let's take a look at the ten best prospects in their system, starting with number ten and counting down to number one.

6. Noel Gunler (RW) - Drafted: 2020 (2/41).

2021-22 stats: Brynas IF (SHL) - 52 GP - 13 G - 10 A - 23 PTS/Chicago (AHL) - 11 GP - 3 G - 2 A - 5 PTS.

5. Ville Koivunen (C) - Drafted: 2021 (2/51).

2021-22 stats: Karpat (Liiga) - 53 GP - 11 G - 18 A - 29 PTS.

4. Aleksi Heimosalmi (D) - Drafted: 2021 (2/44).

2021-22 stats: Assat (Liiga) - 47 GP - 0 G - 3 A - 3 PTS.

3. Anttoni Honka (D) - Drafted: 2019 (3/83).

2021-22 stats: JYP (Liiga) - 57 GP - 6 G - 31 A - 37 PTS.

2. Pyotr Kochetkov (G) - Drafted: 2019 (2/36).

2021-22 stats: Carolina (NHL) - 3 GP - 3 W - 0 L - 0 OTL, 2.42 GAA, .902 save percentage/Nizhny Novgorod (KHL) - 23 GP - 10 W - 10 L - 2 OTL, 2.23 GAA, .926 save percentage, two shutouts/Charlotte (AHL) - 15 GP - 13 W - 1 L - 1 OTL, 2.09 GAA, .921 save percentage.
