Wayne Gretzky being sued over infamous gum weight loss lie
The greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky, is being sued over allegedly lying about an infamous weight loss routine. A man is making a case claiming that The Great One's lie of being able to drop weight by chewing gum cost him $10 million.
The lawsuit was first reported by TMZ Sports in a case that was filed in Los Angeles on Monday.
Apparently, there is a gum called "OMG gum," which is used to manage weight, and Gretzky's wife was later hired to be a spokesperson by the creator, Steven Sparks.
Gretzky got himself into trouble by telling a bit of a white lie, stating that he lost 35 pounds in two months by chewing the gum. Let's face it, that's almost impossible even if you starved yourself every day for two months.
The allegations explain that Gretzky used the lie to gain traction in the company's stocks which Gretzky's family owned a large portion of.
Sparks is claiming that he was unaware of the lies Wayne was telling, and when Wayne admitted he was in fact lying, the company tanked. Sparks took a huge hit and is saying that he is down over $10 million, and he wants The Great One to pay for it.
