Per Elliotte Friedman, the Predators' offer was filed at $1.35M AAV, and Trenin's was $2.4M. Ultimately, they opted closer to the team's filing, but the two-year option guarantees the Russian forward north of $3 million.
Trenin is a forward on whom I, personally, quite bullish. With 41 points in 146 games for the Nashville Predators, Trenin is a strong player driver at both ends and plays a punishing style in a middle-six role. He has a knack for clutch goals, as well as the ability to play up and down the lineup, while posting strong special teams results as well.

The signing leaves the Preds with $2.4 million heading into the 2022-23 season. Depending how they start the year, they could opt to reorganize their roster via one cap-dump or another and then adding at the trade deadline, but as long as they are competitive GM David Poile won't be making any rash decisions.
