Multiple sources are reporting, on Wednesday, that the Montreal Canadiens are in "deep discussions" with the Philadelphia Flyers regarding defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere.

There are no other details available at this time, however, Marc-Olivier Beaudoin and Georges Laraque have both confirmed that the trigger may be pulled on this deal at any time.

Gostisbehere was drafted in the 3rd round (78th overall) in 2012 by the Philadelphia Flyers. He has suited up in 323 games for the Flyers, recording 196 points. "Ghost", as he is often referred to, had a banner year in 2017-18, posting an impressive 65 points in 78 games, leading most to believe he was beginning to find his groove and carve out his niche as a legitimate top-4 scoring defenseman.

In 2018-19, the Flyers saw quite a regression from Gostisbehere, who recorded just 37 points in 78 games. This led to much trade speculation. The now 26-year-old has not found his way off the trading-block since.

Gostisbehere has recorded 9 points in 25 games this season, also spending time as a healthy scratch.

A change of scenery could be just what the doctor ordered with Ghost.
