According to TSN's Frank Seravalli, Bill Peters has been relieved of his head coaching duties in Calgary. The Flames will hold a press conference at 12:30pm ET to confirm.
Earlier this week, the Calgary Flames launched an investigation on Peters after he was accused of directing racial slurs at one of his players, Akim Aliu, while they were together in the AHL. The allegations were confirmed by two of Aliu's teammates at the time.
Following that, former Hurricane, Michal Jordan released a story detailing that Peters would physically abuse players during games. Hurricanes players approached management about the issues, but Peters was not disciplined.
Peters released a statement on Wednesday night, admitting to the accusations, and issued an apology to Brad Treliving, and the Calgary Flames. But he did not issue an apology to Aliu, nor did he acknowledge the abuse allegations.
