It has been announced that Bill Peters will not be behind the bench on Wednesday night when the Flames head to Buffalo to take on the Sabres. Calgary's assistant coach, Geoff Ward will handle the head coaching duties.

Flames Gm, Brad Treliving made the following statement:

"Our review into the allegations from [Monday] evening continues. This is a very serious matter and we want to be thorough in our review. We will no further comment until our review is complete."

In case you missed it, the Calgary Flames are conducting an investigation on Peters after a story was released Monday evening via Twitter that Peters directed racial slurs at Akim Aliu. Peters coached Aliu with the Rockford IceHogs from 2008-2010.

After the story came out, Michal Jordan sent out a tweet about Peters alleging he used to kick and punch players in the head during games, and would carry on pretending that nothing happened. Jordan played for Peters and the Hurricanes for parts of the 2014-15, and 15-16 seasons.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, not having Peters behind the bench for the game against the Sabres is the first step in the process of firing him.
