It's been several months since Carolina's Justin Williams has played a game in the NHL. He has never said he's definitely coming back, but he hasn't officially announced his retirement either. He took time off at the beginning of this year to contemplate his future and whether he still wanted to play the game. A new report says we may see him back with the Hurricanes before he decides he definitely done.

The Athletic's Sara Civian, who covers the Hurricanes for the publication, recently took the time to answer some questions from fans in a column. One of those questions was whether Williams, 38, would be returning to the NHL. Civian wrote:

My sense right now is that it's more probable than not that he will return. That's all I will say.

It was a little surprising that Williams decided to step away. Despite being in his late 30s, he had a very good season last year, scoring 23 goals and 53 points. If he can still produce at, or near, that level, his presence would certainly be a boost for Carolina, not to mention the leadership he could provide for a team with several young players at the moment.

Williams is a three time Stanley Cup Champion, and won the Conn Smythe as the most valuable player in the playoffs while winning the Cup with the LA Kings in 2014. In 1244 regular season career games, he has 312 goals and 786 points.
