The Ottawa Senators have announced that forward Bobby Ryan will be away from the team indefinitely as he has entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. Everyone involved say they will have no further comment on this issue at this time.

The Player Assistance Program was jointly formed in 1996 and is funded by the league and the players' union "to assist players and their families in the treatment of health problems, including substance abuse."

Ryan, 32, is in his 13th NHL season and seventh with the Senators. He has one goal and four points in 16 games and has spent time as a healthy scratch this season.
