Buffalo Sabres GM Jason Botterill realizes the team needs immediate help at the forward position. As such, he told reporters Tuesday evening that he's 'actively looking' to make a trade to get help as quickly as possible. The Sabres are now 1-6-2 in their last nine games, with Jack Eichel being the team's only forward making a significant contribution on the score sheet. Injuries are also piling up, with Kyle Okposo being the latest forward to be removed from the lineup. He suffered his fourth concussion in under three years on the weekend.

"There's a lot of concern," Botterill said. "Right now, the focus is just making sure that Kyle is all right and getting him back to normal health."

Tage Thompson was called up to fill in for Okposo, but sustained an upper body injury Sunday. The Sabres have also been without forward Johan Larsson (upper body), Marcus Johansson (upper body) and Vladimir Sobotka (lower body). The team needs forward depth so bad that it moved defenceman John Gilmour to forward for Tuesday night's game against Minnesota. The Sabres lost 4-1.

There is some good news, though. Defenceman Zach Bogosian is getting closer to making his season debut after having hip surgery last spring.

"I think he'll be a big boost to our team," Botterill said.

The question now is what will the Sabres have to give up to get the forward depth they need.
