Saturday night was the first game the Pittsburgh Penguins have played since last season without any regular roster players injured. It didn't last long. After blocking a shot in an overtime loss to Edmonton , forward Patric Hornqvist left the game and did not return. The Penguins announced Sunday he has been placed on injured reserve and is out "longer term."

There is no word at this time on when Hornqvist might be back. The amount of injuries the Penguins have faced this season has been nothing short of ridiculous. Alex Galchenyuk, Evgeni Malkin, Brian Dumoulin, Nick Bjugstad and Bryan Rust have all missed games, among others.
