The Ottawa Senators have offered an update on forward Scott Sabourin after his terrible collision with David Backes Saturday night the led to him being stretchered off the ice. General Manager Pierre Dorion said Sunday Sabourin has suffered a broken nose but is expected to be released from hospital today.
Sabourin had to be stretchered off after he landed face-first on the ice following a collision with Backes of the Boston Bruins early in Saturday's contest. Sabourin was tended to for several minutes, gave a thumbs-up as he was taken off the ice, and was then transported to a Boston-area hospital.
Backes was clearly shaken up by the incident, and suffered an upper body injury of his own. He did not return to the game and the Bruins say he will be out at least a couple of days.
