Home openers are usually hot tickets for most NHL teams. Especially those based in hockey-crazed markets in Canada. For the Ottawa Senators, the club was using buy-one-get-one offers to entice fans to purchase tickets for their home opener Saturday night against the Rangers.
The Sens were using an offer that allows anyone buying a ticket in the 100, 200, and 300 level seats to get a free ticket to one of three future games taking place in October. Much has been made of Ottawa's difficulty in filling seats at their arena in Kanata. Whether it's the fact that the Canadian Tire Centre is located 30 to 40 minutes outside of Ottawa's downtown, the on-ice product, or both, has been the subject of much debate.
As of late Friday night, the Sens still had good seats available for Saturday's home opener.
