The Arizona Coyotes are reportedly looking quite a bit into the future in order to find themselves in contention again, but it sounds like the team wants to bring in a hometown player.

After losing Christian Dvorak in a trade with the Montreal Canadiens, the team will need to find a replacement. Although, they may be content with taking some bumps over the next couple of seasons in order to build a team good enough to bring in Auston Matthews.

Matthews becomes a free agent in 2024, and it appears that they will be more than willing to offer him one of the richest contracts in NHL history. With Dvorak leaving, the Yotes only have three players signed beyond two seasons, so they will have more than enough money to spend.

The 23-year-old has solidified himself as one of the top players in the league, and his next contract will be colossal no matter where he chooses to sign. Last season he put up 41 goals and 25 assists in just 52 games, and he doesn't show any signs of slowing down.
