The Athletic's Dom Luszczyszyn, one of the brightest minds in hockey analysis, has a penchant for creating interesting visuals and providing in-depth hockey analysis. This past week, Luszczyszyn compiled a list of NHL front offices, ranked in 6 different areas by members of each team's fanbase, revealing a total average score for each of the NHL's 32 teams. According to Luszczyszyn, almost 17,000 fans took part in the project.
Luszczyszyn used roster building, cap management, drafting and development, trading, free agency and vision as the scoring criteria. Without giving away the full compliment of results, here are the top 10 and they break down as follows:
1. Tampa Bay Lightning - 4.6/5
2. Colorado Avalanche - 4.3/5
3. Detroit Red Wings - 4.2/5
4. Florida Panthers - 4.1/5
5. New York Islanders - 3.9/5
6. Winnipeg Jets - 3.7/5
7. Los Angeles Kings - 3.6/5
8. Boston Bruins - 3.5/5
9. Carolina Hurricanes - 3.5/5
10. New Jersey Devils - 3.4/5
For those who may be curious as to where the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs stack up, they came in at 17 and 18, respectively.
I'd encourage you to check out Dom's full breakdown on all 32 teams, complete with info graphics in the article below.
