Ducks defenceman Josh Manson nixes trade to Jets
According to Eric Stephens of The Athletic, the Anaheim Ducks recently had a deal in place to send defenceman Josh Manson to the Winnipeg Jets, but the 29-year-old who has a limited no movement clause in his contract nixed the trade.
Manson has been apart of the Ducks organization since being selected in the sixth-round (160 overall) in 2011, so you can understand why he would want to remain a part of the team. He has played in 408 career games to this point, notching 22 goals and 82 points while maintaining his very steady defensive presence.
While one can understand wanting to live in warm sunny Anaheim rather than freezing cold Winnipeg, it is somewhat interesting that he turned down a move to a team that is on the cusp of being a legitimate contender in the West. What also makes it interesting is that his father, Dave Manson, spent parts of three seasons during his 1103 game career in Winnipeg, and also played three seasons with another very northern team in the Edmonton Oilers. Still, it is very much his right to do what is best for him, and it is clear in this case he preferred to stay in Anaheim.
