Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs reportedly 'livid' with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman

It appears there is a group of NHL owners who are not happy with NHL comissioner Gary Bettman right now. Chief among them is Jeremy Jacobs, the owner of the Boston Bruins. According to a report by the New York Post's Larry Brooks, the owners are upset with the Bettman over the latest collective bargaining agreement, signed just four months ago.

"We've been told by two sources that club owners were largely uninformed about the spring and summer negotiations and had little or no time to examine the CBA before it was put to a vote," Brooks wrote. "Now that the owners understand the ramifications of the deal given the challenges of playing at least a largely spectator-free 2020-21, there is a group livid at the commissioner and deputy Bill Daly. We are told that Boston's 'Mr. Jacobs' is among them."

Brooks added a 'handful' of owners are digging in their heels on additional financial concessions from players before agreeing to start up the 2020-21 season. This could spell disaster for any hope of seeing the NHL return in the near future.

Jacobs' name on the list of upset owners is particularly important as he is the Chair of the NHL's Board of Governors. The billionaire is considered to be a driving force behind work stoppages in the league over the last 25 years. Jacobs is the owner of Delaware North, which not only provides concession services at TD Garden in Boston, but at several arenas and stadiums across multiple sports throughout the country. Jacobs' finances, to put it simply, are likely taking a huge loss at the moment, with no clear end in sight. All things considered, it's not really surprising that he would be unhappy with the way things have gone with the new collective bargaining agreement.
