All of the players on this list have some NHL experience, but none of them have played more than 200 games.
Nick Suzuki, Montreal Canadiens - Center
Brought over in the Max Pacioretty trade, the Canadiens may have found a potential star in Suzuki. Last year there were glimpses of how high his potential might be, as he tallied 41 points (13 goals, 28 assists) which was good enough for sixth among all rookies in the NHL. He was one of the best players on the Canadiens during the postseason upset of the Penguins, and he finished as the team's leading scorer in the playoffs.
Robert Thomas, St. Louis Blues - Center
The 21-year-old has quietly been one of the Blues' better forwards over the past two seasons. During 5-on-5 play over the past two seasons, Thomas ranks second on the team in total points per 60 minutes (2.11) only trailing Ryan O'Reilly. Last season, he had 42 points (10 goals, 32 assists) in 66 games.
Kailer Yamamoto, Edmonton Oilers - Right Wing
Yamamoto is an especially intriguing player to have a breakout season since he will very likely be playing with either Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl once again. He had 26 points in 27 games last season, which might be unsustainable, but he is still in a position to have a very productive first full season.
Devon Toews, Colorado Avalanche - Defenseman
Toews will get the opportunity to already play for a loaded Colorado Avalanche team, and it would be surprising if he does not have a career year. He scored around a 30-point pace during his first two years with the New York Islanders, but being surrounded by so many talented players is only going to raise his stock.
Denis Gurianov, Dallas Stars - Right Wing
Gurianov may have only had 29 points last season, but 20 of those were goals. He was arguably the Stars' most consistent goal scorer last year, and he made a huge impact in the playoffs. He should be looking at an increased role to start the season and that could lead to a big year.
