Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook told reporters Friday that he will not be travelling with his Blackhawks teammates to Edmonton, which is one of the two hub cities for the NHL.

Seabrook, 35, says he is still recovering from multiple surgeries earlier in the season and doesn't feel comfortable yet, at least not as comfortable as he would like to be. He did, however confirm that he fully intends on playing next season, after much speculation he may be put on LTIR until his contract expires as many believed his injuries to be career threatening. The Richmond, BC native is a shell of his once dominant self, putting up just three goals and one assist in 32 games this year, and was a healthy scratch multiple times.

While the fall from grace is certainly disappointing, it should not take away from what Seabrook has been able to accomplish during his career. The three-time Stanley Cup Champion was highly regarded as one of the games best defenceman for years, and has 464 points in 1114 regular season games to this point.
