Ryan Kesler riles up Edmonton fans with a series of tweets

NHL forward Ryan Kesler has always been an extremely controversial player, with many opposing fans hating the American born forward. Of course, this is exactly what he thrived upon as a player, as he was able to rile up opposing teams while also contributing in a big way both offensively and defensively.

Despite not playing a game in the 2019-20 season due to injuries, the 35-year-old Kesler is still continuing to irritate many, thanks to becoming more vocal on Twitter lately. Although it isn't official, there have been many reports his career is over due to nagging hip injuries, which may be a reason why he isn't afraid to say what's on his mind lately on social media.

The NHL recently announced that the hub cities for this year's playoffs will be in Edmonton and Toronto, which gave Kesler a good opportunity to take a shot at Edmonton and its fans, and he did just that.

“Please say we're playing in Toronto, please be Toronto- ‘every NHL player'”, read Kesler's tweet. Of course, this had many Edmonton residents and other Oilers fans replying non-stop to him, some of which brought up the questionable Anaheim Ducks goal scored against the Oilers during the 2017 playoffs where it appeared Kesler had interfered with goaltender Cam Talbot by lifting his pad off the ice.

“I'd blame your boy Nurse for the unnecessary cross check to the back. I never would of been in the crease if it wasn't for him. Oh and the fact you guys blew a 3 goal lead with 3 mins left,” Kesler said in response.

As mentioned earlier, Kesler's career appears to be over. Though his career being cut short is unfortunate, one positive is that he is engaging more on Twitter, which certainly creates entertainment for fans. If it is the end for him as an NHLer, he had a fantastic career, posting 573 points in 1001 regular season games.
