For Henrik Lundqvist, the 2019-20 season before the coronavirus was tough. On a struggling New York Rangers team, the Swedish star goalie at times found himself demoted to a third string role behind Igor Shestyorkin and Alexandar Georgiyev, posting a .905 save percentage and a 3.16 gaa.

In a recent interview with Hockeysverige, Lundqvist says he's unsure as to where he will play next season.

“I'm only thinking about this season. After this season there will be a discussion with the Rangers about how they look at the future. In the end they're the ones deciding. I will have to wait and see where they're standing.” Lundqvist said.

One of the teams who would be keen to get a signature if Lundqvist were to leave the Rangers is Frolunda, the team from where Lundqvist once emerged as a young star, winning Swedish goaltender of the year three times as well as a Swedish championship.

“There are many pieces weighing in and that have to feel right for it to happen. I've always said I'm never closing any doors for Frolunda.”

If Lundqvist would sign sign with Frolunda, he'd be rejoining his twin brother Joel Lundqvist, who once was a third round pick, playing 134 NHL games with the Dallas Stars.
