Insider Reveals 2023 Trade Deadline with a Slight Modification
NHL Insider Chris Johnston announced today that the 2023 Trade Deadline will be on Friday, March 3 at 3:00pm eastern:
The league switching the weekday from Monday to Friday is the only real noteworthy change; the past four deadlines have fallen on a Monday.
Perhaps it is a marketing ploy from the NHL. A Friday deadline might create extra drama and more viewership. Plus, it is great for fans as it offers the perfect reason to duck out of work and get a head start on the weekend. Win-win.
The 2022 Trade Deadline saw 54 players moved in 33 trades, according to the NHL's website. Bold prediction: the 2023 deadline sees more than 60 players moved in 40+ trades.
